Residential Technician - Part-time
Supervise residents in all aspects of daily living. Provide instruction for individual service plan outcomes and recommendations and record programmatic data. Maintain complete and accurate records, to include daily documentation notes, interdisciplinary notes, etc. Transport and accompany individuals to and from medical appointments, recreational activities, shopping trips and other scheduled activities as assigned by supervisor. Lift or otherwise mobilize individuals. Provide personal care and assistance to individuals, to include bathing, dressing, grooming and feeding, as needed.
Assist individuals with proper medication administration and insure proper documentation. Attend, as assigned or scheduled, all training sessions, staff meetings and other meetings as directed by supervisor. Assist, as needed, in meal preparation and grocery shopping for the group home. Assist in maintaining a clean and sanitary environment for residential living. Carry out scheduled fire drills, prevention and security checks of fire extinguisher in accordance with established standards.
Inform supervisor when program-related problems arise. Assist in dealing with verbally and physically aggressive individuals using agency approved techniques, in order to effectively meet treatment needs, and comply with human rights regulations. Perform relevant job duties as directed by immediate supervisor. Will work up to 29 hours per week.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; knowledge, skills and abilities required.
- Current valid driver's license and good driving record, and willingness and ability to acquire a valid commercial drivers license if necessary.
- Willingness and ability to travel and use personal transportation in a work capacity.
- Ability to lift forty (40) pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Effective problem solving and decision making skills.
- Ability to intervene in a crisis situation and manage physical behaviors of individuals with intellectual disabilities.
- Ability to successfully complete training in, and demonstrate a practical use of, Medication Administration, Medication Repackaging, Medicaid Waiver Training, CPR, First Aid, behavioral intervention training, etc.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to differentiate role with co-workers and role with residents.
- Ability to organize work and be self-directed.
- Basic knowledge of community resources.
- Ability to perform general household upkeep and maintenance.
