Firefighter/Medic

This position is intended for an employee hired to fill the role of Firefighter/EMS provider who possesses EMT-Intermediate or Paramedic certification but not the required Firefighter certification at the time of appointment. FF/Paramedics will also receive an additional $5,000 yearly stipend for the additional level of medic training.

Performs responsible technical and protective service work in the field of fire suppression, prevention, emergency medical services, and associated emergency services.

This Fire and Rescue Recruit IV (3250028) position is intended for an employee hired to fill the role of Firefighter/Medic who holds current EMT-Intermediate or Paramedic certification but does not possess the required Fire Fighting certifications, at the time of appointment. Upon entry, the incumbent participates in a structured probationary training and credentialing process designed to develop the knowledge, skills, abilities, certifications, and operational competencies required to function as a Firefighter/Medic with Caroline County Fire-Rescue & Emergency Management.

The duties/responsibilities of the Firefighter/Medic are distinguished from those of the Firefighter/EMT in that the Firefighter/Medic position is expected to maintain certification in advanced life support operations and, upon department release, serve in a lead capacity at the scene of EMS incidents.

This position normally works 8-hour shifts while in recruit training classes
