The Clinical Support Staff is responsible for providing high quality patient focused care through the adherence to organizational policies and procedures, mastery of clinical skills, and implementation of the standardized patient intake and standing orders. Promotes a cohesive environment of teamwork, open communication, care and support among staff and patients. Adhere to scope of practice requirements and ensure confirmation of clinical skill performance by licensed staff where applicable.

Requirements- Prefer experience in a medical setting.
- Individual must be energetic, flexible and self-motivated with strong attention to detail, communication, teamwork, customer service and computer skills.
- This position also requires a person with the ability to use clinical assessment skills and perception to determine the needs of the patient while working with the medical provider.
- Able to handle the administrative work to include scheduling appointments, directing phone calls, filing documents, and getting patients where they need to be.
- Must maintain current CPR for all life cycles and CEU credits required for licensure.
- Must demonstrate excellent internal and external customer service skills.
- Employee must demonstrate an understanding of the intent, and follow standards, guidelines and protocols related to achieving and maintaining certifications by outside agencies.
- Must demonstrate a personal and professional commitment to Eastern Shore Rural Health and its Mission Statement.
- Ability to provide bilingual patient care is a plus.
Must have current State Licensure as a EMT-B with IV certification, or EMT-I.
Medical AssistantCertificate of completion of Medical Assistant program required.
MA Certification preferred.
LPNCurrent Licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse required.
RNCurrent Licensure as a Registered Nurse is required.
Summary- Escort patients to exam room, and prepares them for examination by provider.
- Completes standardized patient intake form as listed in the procedure manual to include measuring vital signs, documentation in electronic medical records and initiating standing orders as appropriate.
- Provides patient/family education regarding vaccines, and may recommend care-coordination opportunities when situation presents itself.
- Performs specimen collection (e.g. phlebotomy, capillary draws, and clean catch urine) and CLIA waived labs according to ESRHS lab competency and document accordingly.
- Prepares for and assists provider with procedures (e.g. sutures, toenail removal, pelvic exam, splinting).
- Administers and documents vaccines, oral medications and treatments as ordered by provider and within scope of practice with validated competency. Able to determine state versus private vaccines.
- Perform specimen collection (e.g. phlebotomy, capillary draws, and catheterized and clean catch urine) and CLIA waived labs according to our lab competency and document accordingly.
- Performs DOT and non-DOT drug screens.
- Performs technical procedures (e.g. EKG, hearing & vision screening) according to competency.
- Keeps exam rooms/work up station stocked and checked for expired items.
- Prepare instruments for sterilization, maintenance and quality control test.
- Prepare specimens and orders for send out labs per lab formulary.
- Takes telephone messages and provide feedback to patients/providers/pharmacy calls and document in electronic medical record.
- Performs mentor duties to visiting clinical staff and new employees per training guide.
- Attends and participates in all nursing in-service educational programs.
- Must follow proper triage procedure per policy with minimum of 1-year clinical experience to perform telephone triage.
