Location: Tappahannock

Key Responsibilities

  • Patient Evaluation and Treatment
    • Conduct thorough evaluations of referred patients.
    • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
    • Provide discharge planning, patient/family education, and recommendations for follow-up care.
  • Documentation
    • Accurately document evaluation results and services provided.
    • Adhere to hospital and department guidelines for documentation.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration
    • Participate as a member of both self‑directed departmental and interdisciplinary patient care teams.
    • Engage in interdisciplinary rounds and contribute to goal setting for routine diagnoses.
  • Clinical Instruction and Training
    • Provide clinical instruction to OT and OTA students.
    • Offer training and education to department and hospital staff.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities
    • Supervise Rehab Technicians, COTA staff, volunteers, and students during clinical rotations.
Qualifications

Licensure, Certification, or Registration:
Licensed or eligible for licensure as an Occupational Therapist in Virginia.

CPR Certification if required by the clinic or practice area.

Experience:

  • Required: New graduate to up to 2 years of work experience as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Preferred: Prior experience in a similar healthcare facility.

Education/Training:

  • Required: Graduate of an accredited School of Occupational Therapy.
  • Preferred: Master’s or Doctoral Degree from an accredited School of Occupational Therapy.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Ability to evaluate and treat patients with routine diagnoses.
  • Competence in setting schedules, managing time, and completing documentation.
  • Effective interaction with interdisciplinary teams and self‑directed work teams.
  • Customer service skills for interacting with patients and families.

Position Requirements
  • Schedules and work hours will be established with your specific manager.
  • Schedules, including weekends and holidays, will be required based on the unit’s organizational and staffing needs.
Physical Requirements
  • Physical – Lifting 50–100 lbs.
  • Activities:

    Frequent bending, walking (distance), climbing (steps, ladder, other), reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive)
  • Mental/Sensory:
    Strong recall, reasoning, problem solving, hearing, speak clearly, write legibly, reading, logical thinking
  • Emotional:
    Fast‑paced environment, steady pace, able to handle multiple priorities, frequent and intense customer interactions, noisy environment, able to adapt to frequent change
