The pay range for this position is $70,000 - $96,000 annually, set in good faith based on the responsibilities of the role, qualifications, and market conditions.

Job Summary

The Lead Clinician provides clinical leadership and oversight for assigned programs and clinical staff. This role is responsible for supporting treatment quality, supervising clinical processes, monitoring documentation and compliance standards, and serving as a resource for clinicians managing complex cases. The Lead Clinician collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to ensure services are delivered safely, effectively, and in alignment with organizational standards and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clinical Leadership
    • Provide clinical guidance, coaching, and support to clinicians and treatment teams.
    • Attend and co-facilitate weekly team and multidisciplinary treatment team meetings
    • Assist with crisis interventions.
    • Promote a culture of clinical excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Quality and Compliance
    • Monitor clinical documentation for quality, accuracy, timeliness, and regulatory compliance.
    • Conduct chart reviews and audits to ensure adherence to organizational, payer, and licensing standards.
    • Identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement and implement corrective actions as needed.
    • Support accreditation and licensing processes.
  • Staff Development and Supervision
    • Support clinicians in treatment planning.
    • Assist with training for new clinical staff.
    • Provide feedback regarding performance, productivity, and clinical practice standards.
  • Client Care and Program Support
    • Maintain a caseload of up to 10 clients with complex clinical needs as assigned.
    • Ensure treatment plans are individualized, measurable, and client-centered.
    • Support crisis management and risk assessment processes.
    • Collaborate with medical, administrative, and community partners to coordinate care.
  • Operational Excellence
    • Partner with leadership to achieve program goals and key performance indicators.
    • Assist in developing and implementing clinical policies, procedures, and best practices.
    • Support workforce engagement, retention, and team effectiveness.
    • Participate in strategic initiatives and organizational projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education / Credentials
  • Master s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related behavioral health field.
  • Active licensure in accordance with state requirements (CSAC, CSAC-S, RIC, LPC, MSW, LCSW).
  • Minimum of a Bachelor s degree specializing in psychology and/or counseling from an accredited college or university.
  • Master s degree in psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field preferred.
  • Licensure or certification for counseling, as may be required by the state in which the facility operates.
Experience
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of clinical experience in addiction treatment and/or behavioral health.
  • Previous leadership, supervisory, or mentoring experience preferred.
Knowledge / Skills
  • Strong knowledge of ASAM criteria, evidence-based treatment modalities, documentation standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
