The Environmental Services Technician (EVS Tech) performs a variety of cleaning, servicing and replenishing duties in assigned hospital areas to assure that patient, medical, visitor and administrative areas are maintained in accordance with established standards of sanitation and cleanliness. The position works every other weekend, with scheduled days off and holidays.
- Attends in-services and meets continuing education requirements as directed by the Environmental Services Supervisor.
- Promotes harmonious relationships and positive attitudes among the health care team.
- Communicates with patients and other staff in verbal, auditory and written form using Augusta Health documentation.
- Works in a supervised environment.
- Provides daily housekeeping services in the patient care area, maintaining cleanliness using 7‑step cleaning procedures, cleaning lounges, rest rooms, nurses’ stations and offices; picks up waste and sanitizes waste containers.
- Replenishes soap, paper towels and tissue supplies.
- Ensures safety of special populations by not leaving tools, equipment, chemicals or supplies unattended in patient care areas.
- Maintains equipment and supplies; reports deficiencies promptly.
- Maintains confidentiality of patients and respects patient dignity.
- Demonstrates appropriate verbal and non‑verbal behavior.
- Services and cleans patient rooms upon discharge and prepares beds for next patient.
- Assists with patient care by reporting emergency situations and following universal precautions.
- Maintains patient safety and follows Fall Precaution Guidelines.

- Eligibility to work in the United States and meet Virginia state employment requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Prior experience in a hospital, healthcare system, or related service‑oriented environment.
- Familiarity with Augusta Health’s systems, workflows or organizational culture is a plus.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to read, write and follow directions.
- Basic computer skills.
