Mental Health Therapist - Tazewell - LCSW

Position Overview

Full‑time day shift at 388 Ben Bolt Ave – Tazewell (United States). The Mental Health Therapist (LCSW preferred) provides assessment, short‑term and ongoing counseling, referral, and follow‑up services to individuals, couples, children, families, and groups in inpatient, ambulatory practices, or Employee Assistance Program (EAP) settings.

• Provide psychotherapy to patients across individual, couple, child, family, and group settings.
• Conduct initial evaluations and short‑term treatment plans.
• Conduct and report diagnostic psychosocial evaluations.
• Maintain timely, accurate, and legible electronic medical record entries.
• Develop and implement daily schedules in coordination with scheduling processes.
• Collaborate with care teams, physicians, and other professionals to ensure consistent treatment.
• Orient new employees and provide guidance to unlicensed therapists, volunteers, students, and contract staff.
• Communicate closely with counselors, clinical staff, community agencies, employers, and treatment facilities.
• Access, enter, and update confidential information in a secure manner.
• Provide input into budget and cost‑containment initiatives.
• Work primarily in an office environment, with occasional light physical effort (e.g., carrying boxes).
• May be exposed to infectious diseases, bio‑hazardous materials, and combative patients.
• Apply a bio‑psycho‑social philosophical approach to counseling.
• Travel to other Carilion work sites as needed and provide own transportation.
• No supervisory responsibilities; may provide guidance as needed.

• Master’s Degree in Behavioral Sciences or equivalent from an accredited university.
• Two to five years of experience in the mental health profession.
• Required licensure:
  Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Psychologist (LCP), or RN CNS (LCSW preferred).
• Demonstrated knowledge of life‑span growth and development principles.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

• Annual salary range: $57,616.00 – $86,424.00 (based on qualifications, credentials, and experience).
