Billing & Insurance Verification Representative

Virginia Oral & Facial Surgery is seeking a detail-oriented Billing & Insurance Verification Representative to join our team. We're looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and understands the critical role accurate insurance verification plays in the patient experience.

This role is responsible for verifying patient insurance benefits, ensuring accuracy of coverage details, and supporting the billing process to promote a seamless financial experience for our patients. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and committed to delivering both accuracy and efficiency while contributing to a positive and collaborative work environment.

What You'll Do:
  • Review each account for completion of demographics and insurance information.
  • Contact medical and dental insurance companies (telephone, internet or predetermination) to determine patient benefits for surgeries and procedures.
  • Calculate surgery and procedure costs for patients and estimate their financial responsibility.
  • Complete all estimate letters for each scheduled procedure.
  • Contact patients by phone with their estimated out of pocket expenses.
  • Mail and/or email estimate letters to patient's current mailing/email address on file.
  • Scan completed estimates into the system on a daily basis.
  • Coordinate work with clinical offices to ensure information is provided available prior to patient surgery or procedures.
  • Serve as a practice liaison with insurance companies.
  • Assist peers as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.
What You'll Need:
  • Minimum of one-year (1) experience in similar position, required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to perform accurate and detailed oriented work.
  • Previous experience in a dental and/or medical practice, preferred.
