Assist and support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in living meaningful, independent lives. DSPs help individuals maintain their health, develop skills in daily living, access public resources, build relationships, and engage fully in their home and community environments. This role empowers individuals to work toward their personal goals and live the life they choose. #hotjobPOSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Valid driver’s license in good standing

Reliable transportation with valid car insurance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or GEDAt least 1 year of experience working with individuals with disabilities

Ability to engage and communicate with courtesy, tact, and good judgment

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide support to help individuals learn to be more independent and to meet their goals with a variety of day-to-day events. This may include, but is not limited to, bathroom support, household chores, budgeting, making friends, exploring their community, shopping, meal prepping, advocating for themselves, eating, etc.

Demonstrates effective and professional communication with individuals and their families/support systems as well as with providers serving the individuals while establishing and maintaining professional boundaries.

Assist with personal care and Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including but not limited to directly supporting with baths, oral care, dressing, grooming, etc.

Provide training in skills related to the use of community resources, such as transportation, shopping, and social and recreational activities.

Monitor the health and physical condition of individuals and assist with medication management and other medical needs when applicable.

Recognize and report suspected cases of abuse, neglect, or exploitation.

Supervise individuals to ensure their health and safety.
