The Norfolk Community Services Board (NCSB) provides treatment, support, and education to the community with a focus on mental illness, substance use disorders, intellectual/developmental disabilities, and housing and homelessness. Norfolk CSB provides services to persons in acute crisis as well as integrated, person-centered, and recovery-oriented programming for persons needing assistance and support stabilizing in the community.

Today, the NCSB provides treatment and rehabilitation services to over 6,000 Norfolk citizens yearly. The NCSB is seeking a Clinical Coordinator responsible for direct supervision of staff in the Crisis Services Program on assigned shift. Assists with direct care as needed regarding assessing individuals in crisis to provide or link the individual and/or significant others with needed mental health services in the least restrictive setting, thus diverting individuals, when possible, from State Hospital care to community-based care.

Provides crisis and /or community stabilization related activities and services. Responds in person and/or by phone to requests for assistance with individuals experiencing behavioral health crisis concerns, including persons with co-occurring health, developmental, and/or social vulnerabilities, or crisis states. Serves both adults and children.

Department Hiring Salary Range: $62,732 - $71,987

Essential functions include but are not limited to
  • Provides consultation and supervision to staff, as assigned, and assists the Emergency Services Supervisor in evaluating their performance.
  • Identifies staff training needs and recommends strategies to meet those needs.
  • Assists the Emergency Services Supervisor in performing human resource functions such as interviewing, selection recommendations, employee performance reviews, scheduling, disciplinary action and handling leave requests.
  • Works collaboratively with others while displaying good judgement and problem-solving skills. Cultivates, fosters, and maintains positive working relationships among crew members and with those contacted in the performance of duties, including co-workers, supervisory staff, community partners, and emergency public services personnel.
  • May include driving a city vehicle to respond in the community. Maintains awareness of Norfolk geography. Utilizes maps and traffic navigation platforms to report to call locations in a timely manner.
  • Operates radio and other communication equipment and electronic mobile devices.
  • Interact with individuals in a respectful and dignified manner using a culturally competent and trauma-informed approach. Establish trust and seek answers to questions to better understand the situation.
