Key Responsibilities

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Directing physical therapy treatment aimed at preventing disability, alleviating pain, and restoring muscle function consistent with each patient's treatment plan.
  • Overseeing and mentoring physical therapy assistants to ensure adherence to the prescribed plan of care.
  • Conducting evaluations of patients' functional levels using diagnostic testing to inform treatment strategies.
  • Making recommendations to enhance clients' independence based on assessments of their home environments.
  • Administering manual therapy techniques, therapeutic exercises, and functional activities while providing motivation and instruction to patients.
  • Evaluating and recommending the appropriate use of orthotic and prosthetic devices, working closely with referring physicians.
  • Maintaining thorough documentation, including initial evaluations, treatment notes, care plans, and discharge summaries, while adhering to regulatory standards.
  • Participating in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient progress and collaborate on treatment plans.
  • Providing education to patients and their families regarding therapy devices and overall rehabilitation programs.
  • Ensuring timely completion of clinical documentation and compliance with branch policies.
Patient Population / Client Focus

In this role, you will work closely with a diverse patient population, including individuals recovering from post-surgical procedures, stroke rehabilitation, chronic pain issues, and sports injuries. We focus on providing tailored rehabilitation programs that meet the unique needs and goals of each patient, emphasizing functional recovery and independence.

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited physical therapy program.
  • Active PT licensure in good standing in Virginia.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, with an ability to engage effectively with clients, families, and team members.
  • Proficiency in federal and state regulations governing physical therapy practice.
  • A demonstrated commitment to quality patient care and clinical excellence.
Preferred Experience

While a minimum of two years of clinical experience is required, preference will be given to candidates with experience in an acute care or home care setting. Familiarity with electronic health records systems and patient management software will be advantageous.
