About the Position:

The Virginia State Police (VSP) is seeking to hire a Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD)/CAD Mobile System Administrator in our Information Technology (IT) Division at our Administrative Headquarters in North Chesterfield, Virginia. The job duties for this position include but are not limited to:

* Responsible for overall management of the CAD and Mobile CAD systems.

* Responsible for the direct supervision of seven Communications Center System Technicians who are geographically dispersed around the Commonwealth.

* Ensuring systems are maintained to ensure maximum availability.

* Acting as a liaison between users, management, vendors, and other agencies to implement program changes, updates, corrections, and addresses other system issues as identified.

* Assessing, proposing, coordinating, and implementing solutions to hardware and software issues, system modifications, system enhancements, and system replacements.

* Serving as point of contact for dispatch and law enforcement users to resolve inquiries, request enhancements and technical requests.

* Handling calls for service (system problems/outages) during on-duty and off-duty hours.

* Handling budget planning, project management and implementation of new functionality from design to implementation.

* Providing DCJS complaint training programs, training documentation and manuals.

* Working with vendors and contractors to support current functionality and large-scale projects.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge of:

* CAD system technology, including troubleshooting, hardware and software maintenance, and system analysis techniques and procedures.

* Supervisory practices and principles.

Skill in:

* SQL query.

* Basic networking.

* Use of Microsoft Office Applications.

Ability in/to:

* Analyze and solve problems.

* Supervise, motivate, and evaluate subordinate employees.

* Learn new technologies and assimilate new information quickly.

* Coordinate and participate in system analysis, design, and programming.

* Accurately identify and evaluate client software needs and requirements.

* Develop and deliver clear, concise reports.

* Produce technical reports and training documentation.

* Resolve problems and pay attention to detail.

* Present ideas and recommendations in a clear and concise manner written and orally.

* Work independently with minimal supervision.

* Communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.

* Interact and collaborate professionally with co-workers, users, vendors, and management.

* Experience in supervising employees required.
