Environmental Project Manager
Job Description
The Environmental Project Manager leads and manages multiple environmental and construction-related projects from contract award through final closeout. This role oversees contract compliance, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, subcontractor coordination, and client communication to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to defined quality standards. The Environmental Project Manager serves as the primary liaison between the client or owner, internal leadership, field supervisors, and accounting teams, ensuring clear communication around project scope, timelines, costs, and performance.
Responsibilities
+ Lead and manage multiple environmental and construction-related projects simultaneously from project startup through final closeout.
+ Oversee project startup activities, including defining scope, establishing budgets, developing schedules, and setting up cost tracking systems.
+ Maintain and manage project budgets, monitor costs, and ensure financial performance aligns with contractual and organizational expectations.
+ Develop, monitor, and adjust project schedules to keep work on track and ensure timely completion of key milestones.
+ Manage purchase orders, subcontract agreements, and invoices to support efficient project procurement and subcontractor management.
+ Track and process change orders, submittals, and contract updates to ensure accurate documentation and contract compliance.
+ Monitor daily job logs and project progress to identify issues early and implement corrective actions as needed.
+ Lead and facilitate preconstruction meetings, progress meetings, and completion meetings to align stakeholders and maintain clear communication.
+ Coordinate with field supervisors and site teams to ensure work is executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with plans and specifications.
+ Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and owners, providing regular updates on scope, timelines, costs, and overall project performance.
+ Ensure customer satisfaction by addressing concerns promptly and maintaining strong professional relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
+ Conduct post-project performance analysis to evaluate outcomes, identify lessons learned, and support continuous improvement.
+ Travel to project sites for site visits, meetings, and field oversight as required to support successful project execution.
+ Support and coordinate environmental and stream restoration components of projects, particularly for heavy civil and site work initiatives.
+ Ensure all project activities align with environmental and construction best practices, internal standards, and regulatory requirements.
Essential Skills
+ 3-5 years of experience managing self-performed construction projects and/or field experience building stream restoration projects.
+ Bachelor's degree in an environmental discipline.
+ Project management experience in construction and environmental projects.
+ Working background in civil and site construction, with a focus on environmental projects.
+
Experience with stream restoration projects, particularly within heavy civil and site work environments.
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
+ Proficiency with scheduling software for planning and tracking project timelines.
+ Experience using Viewpoint or similar project management and accounting software.
+ Strong project coordination skills, including organizing resources and managing multiple concurrent tasks.
+ Demonstrated ability to manage change orders, including documentation and cost impacts.
+ Experience managing purchase orders and subcontract agreements.
+ Ability to develop, monitor, and maintain project schedules.
+ Strong communication skills for coordinating with clients, internal teams, and field personnel.
+ Ability to track and interpret daily job logs and project progress data.

Work Environment
This role is primarily field-based, with the Environmental Project Manager working on site daily to oversee active construction and environmental work.
