Safety Manager Summary/Objective

The Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the company’s safety programs to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local safety regulations. This role is critical in fostering a culture of safety within the organization, with a focus on commercial drywall and government contracting projects. The Safety Manager will conduct training, perform site audits, and proactively identify and mitigate risks to create a safe work environment.

Job Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and enforce the company’s safety policies and procedures in compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulations.
  • Conduct regular job site inspections to identify hazards, ensure compliance, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Lead accident and incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implement corrective measures.
  • Manages the worker’s compensation program.
  • Train employees and subcontractors in safety policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Maintain safety records, including OSHA logs, incident reports, and training documentation.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies, clients, and internal personnel regarding safety compliance.
  • Develop and oversee site-specific safety plans for projects.
  • Manage and ensure compliance with government contracting safety requirements, including EMR tracking and reporting.
  • Conduct and oversee Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs) and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Create, update, and maintain corporate safety manuals and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Track and analyze safety performance metrics (e.g., incident rates, near-miss reports), prepare reports for executive leadership.
  • Willingness to travel to various company locations and job sites, which can be up to 50% depending on the company’s footprint.
  • Stay updated on new safety regulations and industry trends to ensure continuous compliance and improvement.

Secondary / Additional Responsibilities
  • Assist project managers and field supervisors in developing and implementing project-specific safety measures.
  • Coordinate with Human Resources on workers’ compensation claims and return-to-work programs.
  • Oversee the procurement and distribution of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Develop and manage emergency response plans and drills.
Competencies, Skills, Abilities, Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, EM 385-1-1 (for government projects), and industry best practices.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills to enforce safety protocols and educate employees.
  • Ability to conduct thorough investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and safety programs.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced construction environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
  • Ability to speak, write, and understand Spanish fluently.
  • Experience in managing safety programs for multi‑site construction operations in multiple states.
Supervisory Responsibility

Oversees safety staff, safety coordinators, and ensures compliance among project managers and field supervisors.
