The Defense Group at Leidos is seeking an Aircraft Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Maintenance Manager to join our team at a CONUS location based out of Bridgewater, VA. This is a unique opportunity to apply your mechanical expertise in support of a high‑visibility aviation mission. In this role, you'll perform inspections, scheduled maintenance, and repairs on a wide range of powered and non‑powered aviation ground support equipment—ensuring every asset meets Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) standards.

As the GSE Maintenance Manager, you will be a critical link between operations, aircraft maintenance, and primary mission equipment (PME) teams. Your work directly supports flight readiness and mission success. You'll spend time on the flight line, inside aircraft, and working hands‑on with specialized payload systems—technology few people ever get to experience. THE CHALLENGE Primary Responsibilities- Comprehensive maintenance and inspections:
Perform preventive, routine, periodic, repair, and overhaul maintenance on GSE and non‑aviation equipment in accordance with OEM manuals and industry standards. - Safety and serviceability assurance:
Ensure all aviation ground support equipment meets operational and safety requirements. - Maintenance record management:
Track inspections, repairs, and historical data for all assigned equipment. - Accurate data entry:
Complete required documentation in maintenance forms and Sprocket systems. - Tool accountability:
Maintain hand and power tools using proper tool‑control processes to support FOD prevention and workplace safety. - Hands‑on technical work:
Work with fuels, oils, lubricants, chemical cleaners, and related solutions as part of daily operations.
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience:
Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or 3 years in lieu of a degree. - General mechanical expertise in maintaining GSE, including:
- Engine diagnostics and repair (diesel, gas, LP)
- A/C and D/C electrical troubleshooting
- Hydraulic system troubleshooting and repair
- Ability to read electrical and hydraulic schematics
- Basic computer proficiency for email communication and database/software use.
- Active DoD Secret clearance with ability to maintain.
- Ability to obtain a U.S. passport and willingness to deploy internationally for rotations of up to 90 days, followed by 90 days off (flexible home location).
- Flexible work hours including long days, nights, weekends, and short‑notice schedule changes.
- Willingness to fly in aircraft and work in austere environments for extended periods.
- Ability to maneuver in tight spaces and work at heights of 40+ feet.
- Capability to lift, balance, and carry 50 lbs and climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands.
- Use of PPE for extended periods as required.
- Exposure to noisy, drafty, and dirty shop environments including extreme noise from operating equipment.
- Military technical school degree
- Vocational training or specialized GSE coursework
- Working knowledge of generators
