Primary ObjectiveIn broad terms, briefly state the major purpose of primary objective of this position.
Major Function and Scope- Loads, unloads, stores, receives and issues raw materials, operating supplies and finished products. Checks and stocks inventory of assigned operating supplies and/or raw materials and orders when inventories dictate.
- Solves computer related problems and other shipping/inventory problems.
- Doffs roll of fabric from loom and transports to warehouse and prepares roll of fabric for shipment.
- Transports fill yarn from storage area and places on fill yarn tree at each loom.
- Any other duties assigned by management.
- Operate powered industrial truck and follow all rules and procedures.
- Change propane tank on powered industrial equipment, when needed.
- Complete “Pre Shift Industrial Truck Inspections” before using powered industrial truck.
- Receive list of looms to be doffed at shift start and perform doffing by priority.
- Maintain Doff Board and prepare loom doff lists for next shift.
- Fill out “Warp Yardage Sheet” and “Weaver Fabric Identification Record”.
- Doff fabric and ensure safe handling of take-up and crank mechanisms; report issues to supervisor.
- Transport fabric rolls and label them; place in designated warehouse locations.
- Unwind/strip defects, record weight and yards, manage waste rolls, and follow JES for pick counts.
- Enter information in computer system to generate labels and distribute them to correct locations.
- Attach end discs, inspect labeling accuracy, and ensure correct trailer/ bin placement.
- Load trailers per orders and correct loading errors; verify orders and shipment readiness.
- Communicate with shipping/receiving and other departments; interact with other facilities as needed.
- Operate additional equipment and processes as required (weaving room, fill yarn trees, strapping, etc.).
- General duties and safety compliance, including trash disposal and housekeeping.
- Education/Experience Prerequisites: Mandatory – Must be able to read and write in manner indicated on job application. Preferred – Previous experience operating a powered industrial truck in a production environment. Basic computer skills to look up information and enter data.
- Other Requirements: Schedule availability; ability to obtain a powered industrial equipment license; ability to learn job-specific computer skills.
- Supervision: Reports to shift supervisor/department manager, works with minimal supervision.
- Competencies: High standards for work quality and safety; self-starter; ability to work independently; ability to read and follow directions; basic computer knowledge; troubleshoot and correct ticketing/inventory mistakes.
- Standing/Walking: ability to stand and walk continuously during a twelve (12) hour shift.
- Sitting: ability to sit on powered industrial equipment eleven (11) hours in a twelve (12) hour shift.
- Moving/Material Handling: pushing/pulling, lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds; reach and manipulate various materials and equipment; ability to push multiple trolleys and operate dock plates.
- Hearing/Speaking, Visual Acuity, and Safety: must communicate effectively; color vision and depth perception; wear PPE as required.
- Other: bending/stooping, mental abilities for decision-making, data entry, and inventory management.
- Required PPE: hearing protection, safety shoes, safety glasses with side shields; follow plant PPE policy.
