OverviewMaterial Handler (Forklift) - Core Forklift responsibilities supporting material flow in the plant.
Responsibilities- Operate forklift to load/unload, move, place, and stack raw materials and doors; navigate throughout the plant including tight spaces while following safety procedures.
- Read/interpret schedules and tickets; verify correct materials and ensure core materials are available at lines.
- Direct core materials to appropriate lines (layup, routers, core saw) and assist with profiling and cutting as required.
- Support material flow to/from routers, core saw, layup lines; coordinate with teams to meet hot rush/remake demands.
- Accurately pull core requirements and ensure core strips for 7/0 & 8/0 doors are available with corresponding materials.
- Move, handle, and store materials safely; recover/return materials to bins and manage leftover materials/components.
- Maintain awareness of stock locations, and ensure materials are represented accurately in inventories.
- Communicate clearly with upstream and downstream departments; maintain a high level of concentration and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
- Advanced knowledge of reading/interpreting schedules and identifying which materials can be pulled from stock versus required by profile.
- Advanced knowledge of SKU’s, material cut requirements, and coordinating material flow to/off routers and layup lines.
- Forklift operating skills with strong safety procedures; ability to use measuring tape to 16th inch.
- Moderate supervision level, ability to work from schedule, and flexibility to handle hot rush/remake demands.
- Ability to physically lift/move materials (up to ~50 lbs) and perform tasks such as bending, lifting, twisting as needed.
Environment:
Mildly controlled with exposure to cold/heat during extreme weather; moderate core dust. High level of concentration and attention to detail required.
