Under the direction of the Painter and / or Shop Manager carries out assigned duties and tasks ensuring that vehicles and equipment are properly prepared for application of paint. Applies paint as directed ensuring application meets specifications and that outcomes result in an appearance that meets our standards

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

Performs tasks assigned by Painter and Shop Manager Painter to ensure that vehicles and equipment are properly prepped prior to painting. Typical duties include: grinding, surface cleaning, sanding, taping/masking.

As directed by 1st shift painter and Shop Manager , removes accessories from vehicles and equipment prior to painting/masking/prep work. Includes: removal of chrome, mirrors, windshield wipers, etc.

Performs tasks as assigned in order to assist Painter and Shop Manager in paint shop activities. Includes: mixing or thinning paint, surface preparation, operating hand-tools/equipment.

Responsible for the cleanliness of the paint booth and all associated work areas.

Performs all duties in a safe manner and in accordance with established work standards. Follows all safety rules/regulations.

Cleans tools and paint equipment to ensure quality operation and maintenance of trade tools.

Maintains a clean and organized work area.

Proactively participates in all training opportunities in order to further develop skills and abilities.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience:

1-2 years technical training in field. Prefer one year of prior work experience in painting operations at a helper level.

Demonstrated ability to meet expectations for attention to detail and achievement of work assignments; commitment to completion of tasks and follow-up responsibilities.

Education to include:
High School Diploma or Equivalent.

Team player committed to working in a quality environment.

Ability to work well under pressure and to meet deadlines.

Strong communication and organizational skills.

Proficient computer skills.

Able to read, write and speak English.

Physical Demands:

Constantly on feet

Walking / carrying loads on uneven surfaces and in ballast.

Working in ALL weather conditions.

Working extended hours.

Constant bending, twisting, stooping, standing and / or walking.

Regular lifting of up to 50 pounds; loads in excess of 50 pounds and which can be reduced, should be made lighter.

Employee must obtain assistance when lifting items weighing more than 75 pounds, or items which present ergonomic challenges in lifting/movement/placement.

Required Certifications and Licenses:

Valid Driver's License

E-Rail Safe (once hired)
