Experienced Upholsterer
HF Custom (formerly Sam Moore Furniture), a division of Hooker Furnishings Corporation (NASDAQ: HOFT), is recruiting for an Upholstery Trainee to work in our plant in Bedford, VA.
Key Responsibilities- Upholster a wide range of custom fabric furniture pieces, including chairs, sofas, and specialty items
- Interpret work orders, patterns, and fabric specifications accurately
- Measure, cut, and apply fabric, leather, padding, and trim materials
- Ensure proper alignment, pattern matching, and finish quality
- Inspect frames and materials prior to upholstery to identify defects or issues
- Use hand tools and pneumatic equipment safely and efficiently
- Maintain consistent production output while meeting quality standards
- Repair or rework pieces as needed to meet specifications
- Keep work area clean and organized in accordance with safety guidelines
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals
- Minimum of 8‑10 years of upholstery experience in furniture manufacturing
- Strong knowledge of upholstery techniques, tools, and materials
- Ability to read and interpret production tickets and specifications
- High attention to detail and craftsmanship
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong problem‑solving skills
- Ability to stand, bend, and lift throughout the shift (up to 50 lbs as needed)
- Experience in high‑end or custom fabric furniture upholstery
- Experience working with a variety of fabrics and leathers
- Familiarity with quality control standards in furniture manufacturing
- Pay Rate: $20.00 – $30.00 per hour (based on experience and skill level)
