Position Summary
Virginia Metal Fab is looking for a motivated and energetic individual to serve as a Powder Coat Team Lead. The role involves leading powder coating operations, ensuring quality, and supervising team members.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain a high level of knowledge regarding powder coat operations—ability to help complete difficult jobs and train new employees.
- Oversee and check the department’s work to ensure quality standards are met.
- Immediately correct any issues with work within the department.
- Operate electrostatic powder spray gun and related equipment.
- Determine appropriate preparation of surfaces and application of powder coating.
- Perform surface prep, masking, and plugging.
- Inspect parts for quality/defects before and after coating.
- Operate the wash system and the cure/dry oven.
- Operate controls and functions of powder coating equipment.
- Clean, maintain, and store tools and powder coating equipment.
- Follow all safety procedures and protocols.
- Perform preventive maintenance on powder coating equipment.
- Ensure work order sign‑off and inspection are complete.
- Interpret technical documentation to determine correct paint application and surface finish.
- Determine appropriate preparation of surfaces and application of paint.
- Properly dispose of paints and other hazardous materials.
10‑hour shift, 2nd or 3rd: 2nd shift Monday‑Thursday 3:00 p.m. – 1:30 a.m.; 3rd shift Monday‑Thursday 7:30 p.m. – 6:00 a.m.

Education: High School or GED.
Experience: At least 3 years in powder coating, required.
Computer Skills: Proficient in math and skilled with multiple types of measuring devices.
Certifications & Licenses: Forklift preferred.
Other Requirements: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills with experience in handling multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment; ability to wear PPE in the shop area; ability to wear respirator.
Physical DemandsLift/carry – up to and including 51–100 lbs frequently.
Push/pull – up to 41–100 lbs frequently.
Work EnvironmentExposure to outside elements and working in a non‑climate‑controlled environment.
