This role supports the Amherst facility in the Logistics Department, focusing on palletization of finished goods, handling of raw materials, and shipping and receiving of all materials.
The Logistics Associate role is a mix of duties including operating automatic and semi-automatic machines and conveyors, material handling to support production, and loading/unloading trucks. Starting Pay Rate: $24.30/Hour.
Schedule:
Rotating Day and Night Shifts Throughout the Month (7 AM - 7 PM & 7 PM - 7 AM).
- Operate and maintain Palletizer systems including making mechanical and automated adjustments and using hand tools.
- Operate and understand Palletizer control panels.
- Perform daily and weekly CILs.
- Participate in start-up, shutdown, and changeover procedures.
- Troubleshoot and maintain accumulation lanes.
- Operate and perform related tasks for manual stretch wrappers.
- Operate skid ticket printers and correct malfunctions.
- Collaborate with Maintenance on improvement opportunities and preventative maintenance events.
- Enter work orders for correcting machine/building abnormalities as needed.
- Communicate and collaborate with Production departments on diverter issues and assist with corrections when available.
- Troubleshoot process issues for conveying and palletizing finished goods.
- Operate forklift as a material handler and stock production lines with raw materials.
- Remove scrap and waste materials and operate compactors for waste materials.
- Use warehouse management system (EWM) and production tracking system (MES) related to material handling duties.
- Unloading and loading trucks.
- Ability to tolerate sustained standing/walking up to 10 hours a day.
- Ability to perform occasional to frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs.
- Good eye-hand coordination and dexterity; ability to wear protective gloves.
- Ability to perform occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, and crawling in confined spaces.
- Ability to tolerate exposure to non-weather related hot temperatures.
- Ability to push/pull material weighing up to 50 lbs and reach floor level, overhead, and forward to work on machines.
- Ability to climb stairs frequently.
- Task-related lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs; grasping and pushing/pulling related to case jams and pallet operations.
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Willingness to train and qualify as a Hostler
- Ability to troubleshoot process issues and understand instructions, procedures, and judgments
- Ability to work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, for up to 7 consecutive days
- Ability to work occasional mandatory overtime shifts
- Clear and effective verbal and written communication; participate in daily plantwide meetings
- Ability to perform effectively under stressful conditions and prioritize duties as part of the Distribution team
