- Trains department personnel to run shop equipment.
- Directs manufacturing operations to provide efficiency at low cost, to include ensuring side operations are performed at the work station and that machines intended to be run as multiple (i.e., Screen Drill, wire EDM) are kept running.
- Actively pursues set-up reduction through such means as, but not exclusively, pre-assembly of tooling, team machine changeovers, fixture redesign, standardizing tooling machine relocation, tool storage activities, etc.
- Provides information as to expected completion dates of jobs for the Parts Department and Planning.
- Specifies and orders special tooling and gaging and works with the Manufacturing Engineers on development and manufacture of tooling for internal use and gages to ensure product quality.
- Maintains work flow for scheduled and non-scheduled parts.
- Controls work flow to meet schedule demands of customers, both external and internal.
- Maintains and promotes efficient operations in the tool crib.
- Coordinates and works with maintenance to perform preventative maintenance on machine tools to maximize up time.
- Checks quality of production and instructs department personnel in inspection methods and correction of product defects, as well as correcting any deficiencies to maintain product quality.
- Actively takes responsibility for the quality of work output and specifies parts which by the nature of their application on the final product requires inspection.
- Performs administrative and supervisory functions relating to payroll, personnel, contractual compliance, safety and plant security requirements consistent with established company policy.
- Maintains strong commitment to safety and housekeeping.
- Minimum of high school diploma or GED required;
Technical Certification, Associates in business administration, technology, industrial engineering or equivalent preferred - 5 years machine shop experience with supervisory skills
- Experience working with Microsoft and Excel
- SAP experience a plus
- Experience working with CNC Mills, Manual Lathe, Manual Mill
- Strong assembly experience is a plus
