Location: Prince George

Welder

This role supports the VSP specialty product segment, with a concentration on hose. Welds and assembles metal pieces and products by using handheld welding equipment. Sets up parts for welding utilizing hand tools, clamps, jigs, and fixtures. Works from specifications, drawings, and weld symbols. Prepares and completes work on materials by welding, cutting, grinding, and cleaning metal.

Essential Functions
  • Performs various fabrication procedures such as welding, cutting hoses to length, and attaching flanges, fittings, and other components for industrial customers
  • Performs standard testing to ensure leak-free weld
  • Uses lathe/CNC to prepare end fittings as required
  • Receives and verifies incoming parts, materials, and supplies; maintains stock areas
  • Tags all final products for identification
  • Conducts physical count and maintains hose material inventory
  • Inspects finished products for conformance to specifications and quality standards, visually or using instruments;
    Check for defects;
    Maintain product quality
  • Maintains any required production logs, including lot/heat numbers for traceability
  • Operate forklift and pallet jack to transfer materials
  • Projects a favorable image of the company to promote, foster, and enhance public recognition of the company and its products and services
  • Maintains a favorable working relationship with all company employees to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate that will be conducive to maximum employee morale, productivity, and efficiency/effectiveness
  • Adheres to all company Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and procedures as outlined in the VSP Health & Safety Manual. Actively contributes to maintaining a safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible workplace in alignment with VSP standards
Experience / Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to perform full penetration hose attachment welds and possess knowledge of standard hose fittings
  • Working knowledge of GTAW (TIG) welding techniques with thin gauge metals
  • Must be able to perform full penetration hose attachment welds
  • 2-4-year college degree in business or related field (preferred)
