Paint Shop Leadman

The Paint Shop Leadman in a manufacturing setting oversees painting operations, ensuring high-quality finishes, adherence to production schedules, and compliance with safety standards. This role involves supervising a team of painters and technicians, managing materials, and maintaining equipment to support efficient workflow.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and Coordinate:
    Oversee daily painting operations, ensuring production goals and quality standards are met.
  • Assign Tasks & Lead Team:
    Distribute work assignments, train employees, and monitor performance to ensure efficiency.
  • Quality Control:
    Inspect surfaces before and after painting, ensuring proper application and adherence to specifications.
  • Surface Preparation:
    Ensure materials are properly prepped, including sanding, priming, and masking, for optimal paint adhesion.
  • Paint Application:
    Oversee the correct preparation and application of paints, coatings, and finishes according to manufacturer guidelines.
  • Equipment Maintenance:
    Maintain powder coating guns, booths, and other painting equipment, ensuring proper function and minimizing downtime.
  • Safety Compliance:
    Enforce OSHA and company safety protocols, ensuring the Proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is used, and handling of hazardous materials.
  • Process Improvement:
    Identify and implement improvements to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance finish quality.
  • Documentation & Reporting:
    Maintain accurate records of completed work and material usage.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Proven experience in industrial painting within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Knowledge of various painting techniques, materials, and equipment.
  • Ability to read and complete work orders, and technical specifications.
  • Understanding of safety regulations and hazardous material handling.
  • Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Physical ability to stand, bend, and lift heavy materials for extended periods.
