Occupational Health & Safety, Safety Engineer
Location: Prince George
This role is onsite and the shift to start will be M-F, 8am-5pm.
This role is to support a new factory in Prince George, VA (onsite) startup manufacturing large form-factor equipment. The product will be large (shipping container size), heavy (50+ tons), and complex. This position will be part of the core factory startup and onboarding team responsible for building the operations and manufacturing staff, fitting out the building, and creating the process flow/work instructions/etc.
from the ground up. Site to include: panel and point to point wire assembly, Medium Voltage, Low Voltage, and High Power Electronic assemblies.
The EHS Engineer will lead and continuously improve the Environmental, Health and Safety program for the Prince George, VA manufacturing facility. Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA and applicable standards while partnering with operations, engineering and maintenance teams to create a safe, environmentally responsible workplace. This role provides technical leadership in risk reduction, electrical safety, machine safety, overhead crane operations, and large form factor manufacturing environments.
Whatwill you do?
- Develop and implement facility EHS policies, procedures and compliance programs.
- Lead risk assessments, job hazard analyses, management of change reviews and incident investigations.
- Provide technical leadership for electrical safety programs including NFPA 70E compliance, arc flash awareness, energized work controls and LOTO programs.
- Support safe operation of overhead cranes, rigging activities and material handling systems.
- Partner with engineering on new equipment introduction, SAT reviews and pre-startup safety reviews.
- Lead environmental compliance activities and regulatory inspections.
- Oversee site industrial hygiene programs including PPE, monitoring, and ergonomics.
- Lead site health and wellness programs.
- Develop and deliver EHS training and employee communications.
- Monitor corrective actions and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in EHS, Safety, Engineering or related field.
- 5+ years EHS experience in manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, NFPA 70E, machine guarding, LOTO and industrial safety.
- Experience supporting overhead cranes and electrical safety programs.
- Incident investigation and root cause analysis expertise.
- Professional certification: OHST, CIH, ASP, CSP or similar certification preferred.
- Experience in large form-factor manufacturing operations preferred.
- Knowledge of ISO 14001 Standard and system preferred.
The pay range for this role is $65,500 - $117,900. Job‑related, non‑discriminatory factors used to determine the actual offered rate include qualifications and experience, geographic location, education, external market data, and consideration of internal equity.
