Qualifications
:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5+ years of project accounting experience in the construction industry
  • Required experience with lump sum, cost-plus, and GMP billing in a construction environment
  • Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles, including WIP, percentage-of-completion, retainage, and change order accounting
  • Hands-on experience managing construction compliance documentation, including Certificates of Insurance (COIs) Lien waivers (conditional and unconditional), Performance and payment bonds, subcontractor and vendor compliance requirements
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and financial analysis

Job Description:

  • Manage full-cycle project accounting for multiple construction projects, from contract setup through closeout
  • Prepare and review monthly billings for lump sum, cost-plus, and GMP contracts, ensuring compliance with contract terms and owner requirements
  • Track and reconcile job costs, committed costs, change orders, retainage, and WIP schedules
  • Prepare and analyze Work-in-Progress (WIP) reports, identifying variances and partnering with project teams to resolve discrepancies
  • Coordinate with Project Managers to validate percent complete, earned revenue, and forecasted costs at completion
  • Ensure compliance with construction documentation requirements, including Certificates of Insurance, lien waivers, bonds, subcontractor agreements, and compliance logs
  • Review subcontractor billings for accuracy, contract compliance, and required supporting documentation
  • Support month-end close activities related to project accounting, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing project documentation and financial support
