Position: Senior Auditor
Location: Hybrid, Washington, DC
ResponsibilitiesLead and manage audit engagements for nonprofit clients, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and auditing/accounting standards.
Develop and execute audit plans, including risk assessment, testing procedures, and reporting.
Evaluate internal controls and identify areas for improvement in financial and operational processes.
Prepare financial statements and/or conduct detailed reviews of financial statements, supporting documentation, and accounting records to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Provide guidance and support to junior team members, including reviewing their work and providing constructive feedback.
Communicate audit findings and recommendations effectively to clients, including presenting complex financial information in a clear and understandable manner.
Collaborate with clients to address audit issues, resolve discrepancies, and implement best practices.
Regularly communicate audit progress, status updates, and significant findings with the audit manager or partner.
Stay abreast of developments in accounting regulations and nonprofit industry trends to ensure audit methodologies remain current and effective.
Build and maintain strong client relationships through professionalism, responsiveness, and reliability.
Participate in firm-wide initiatives, such as training programs and quality assurance reviews, to enhance professional development and uphold audit quality standards.
QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
CPA certification or completion of one or more sections of the CPA exam.
3 to 5 years of auditing experience, ideally within nonprofit accounting.
Profound comprehension of auditing principles and standards.
Proficiency in the MS Office Suite.
Familiarity with Caseware Working Papers or CCH Pro Systems fx Engagement is a plus.
Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
