Overview
Location: Dulles, VA - fully on-site
Assignment Type: Direct hire
Compensation: $180-200K

Job Description- Oversee operational accounting activities for assigned business units.
- Manage and develop a team of 5+ accounting professionals, including regional controllers, senior accountants, and cost accountants.
- Provide financial oversight for project accounting, revenue recognition, billing analysis, and risk management activities.
- Support the achievement of business objectives through effective financial reporting, operational controls, and team leadership.
- Direct, mentor, and support accounting team members through regular one-on-one meetings focused on technical growth, professional development, and career progression.
- Assist with recruitment efforts and coordinate comprehensive onboarding programs for new hires.
- Monitor and analyze project financial performance through revenue and profit recognition activities, budget-to-actual comparisons, and billing variance assessments, including overbilling and under billing reviews for both project and overhead accounts.
- Evaluate project financial health to identify potential risks and opportunities.
- Develop corrective action plans to address concerns and communicate significant issues to senior leadership when necessary.
- Allocate responsibilities based on team capacity and business priorities, ensuring balanced workloads and operational efficiency.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback to support employee success.
- Partner with accounting leadership to improve, standardize, and document project accounting procedures, driving greater accuracy, consistency, and operational effectiveness.
- Oversee field payroll and cost accounting functions through the supervision of managers, while providing guidance on union labor requirements, construction accounting practices, and cost control standards.
- Strong understanding of general ledger management, project accounting, and operational accounting processes.
- Advanced knowledge of U.S. accounting standards, including GAAP and ASC 606 revenue recognition requirements.
- Minimum of seven years of progressive accounting experience, including previous leadership or management responsibilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems; experience with Oracle is a plus.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
- Professional certification such as CPA or CCIFP is preferred.
