Company Summary
We recently partnered with a top tier RE firm looking to add a Senior Corporate Accountant to their team in Newport News, VA. This is a full‑time, fully on‑site opportunity focused on overseeing day‑to‑day accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy of financial records, and supporting the organization's financial reporting requirements.
This individual will play a key role in the month‑end and year‑end close process, maintain compliance with accounting regulations, and provide meaningful financial insights through analysis and reporting.
Key duties include preparing and reviewing financial statements, managing general ledger activity, reconciling accounts, analyzing financial data, and ensuring adherence to company policies and accounting best practices.

Qualifications- Proven experience with financial statement preparation, general ledger management, and financial reporting
- Strong understanding of account reconciliations and accounting compliance requirements
- Exceptional attention to detail with strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field; CPA designation is preferred
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team-oriented, in-office environment
- Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management abilities
- Previous experience within property management, real estate, or related industries is advantageous
- Advanced proficiency with Quick Books (Desktop and/or Online) and Microsoft Excel
- Familiarity with One Site and/or Real Page Accounting systems is highly preferred
- Experience managing accounting processes across multiple entities is strongly desired
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for multiple legal entities
- Monitor and reconcile intercompany activity while ensuring proper consolidation and eliminations
- Coordinate investor distribution processes, including tracking payments and maintaining supporting documentation
- Complete personal property tax filings and manage business license renewals and applications
- Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations and investigate financial variances
- Review property-level financial reporting to ensure accuracy and alignment with corporate accounting standards
- Support tax-related requests and work closely with external accounting and tax advisors as needed
- Assist with month-end and year-end close activities to ensure timely and accurate reporting
- Maintain compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and regulatory requirements
