Express Employment Professionals is recruiting an experienced Accountant & Payroll Specialist for a well-established company in Northern Minnesota. What You’ll DoAs the Accountant & Payroll Specialist, you'll oversee daily accounting operations while ensuring accurate payroll processing and financial reporting. This position plays a key role in maintaining the company's financial health and supporting office operations.
Primary Responsibilities- Manage full-cycle accounting, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, general ledger, purchasing, and payroll accounting
- Process bi-weekly payroll accurately while maintaining confidentiality
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, vendor statements, and customer accounts
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and assist with month‑end and year‑end closing
- Generate financial reports and assist leadership with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
- Prepare payroll tax filings and maintain compliance with federal and state regulations
- Monitor outstanding receivables and assist with collections as needed
- Maintain employee payroll records, benefits deductions, and tax with holdings
- Set up customer accounts, prepare invoices, process payments, and maintain vendor records
- Maintain organized financial records and assist with additional administrative projects as needed
We're looking for someone who brings both accounting expertise and exceptional attention to detail.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
- Previous experience in an accounting, finance, or payroll‑related role with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities independently
- Working knowledge of accounting principles, financial recordkeeping, and payroll practices
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize deadlines in a fast‑paced office environment
- High level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential financial and personnel information
Proficiency using accounting software - Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with exceptional attention to detail
- Professional communication skills with the ability to work effectively with employees, vendors, and customers
