Plans, assigns, supervises, reviews and participates in the professional and paraprofessional centralized accounting operations of the County; does related work as required.

Henrico County's Finance Department is hiring an Accounting Section Manager to lead our centralized accounting operations. You will plan, assign, and supervise the professional and paraprofessional accounting work that keeps county finances accurate, compliant, and running smoothly. This is a senior leadership role for an experienced accountant ready to guide a team and shape how the work gets done - within a department known for its collaborative, people-first culture.

• Plan, assign, supervise, and review centralized accounting operations for the County
• Devise, apply, and monitor effective accounting procedures and internal controls
• Analyze and interpret fiscal data and prepare accurate statements and reports
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) guidance
• Direct the setup and improvement of accounting systems and procedures - Supervise, develop, and support your accounting team
• Present recommendations clearly to staff, leadership, and the public

• A four-year degree in accounting or business administration
• 6 years of professional accounting experience, including 2 years in a supervisory role, or an equivalent combination of experience and training
• Extensive knowledge of accounting, auditing, and budget preparation principles
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, with emphasis on GASB standards
• Proficiency with spreadsheet and statistical software, and the ability to build custom reports
• Sound professional judgment, integrity, and initiative
• Proven ability to supervise and develop a team

The expected hiring range is between $95,470.83 to $ and is commensurate upon experience.

Four (4) year degree in accounting or business administration, and six (6) years of related successful professional accounting experience, including two (2) years in a supervisory capacity; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
