The Department of Libraries is seeking a Library Associate I. This highly adaptable position works within the Programs Department and supports the Programs Director and the department through general administrative tasks, project tracking, report review, and occasional assistance with producing print and digital marketing materials.
Salary RangeDepartmental Hiring Salary Range: $22.72 Hourly
Essential Functions- Proficient in Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and software systems – Canva, iMovie
- Performs administrative duties in collecting data and preparing and analyzing Excel and written reports
- Conducts administrative duties in organizing, scheduling, filing, typing and related tasks
- Orders materials and supplies related to programming
- Creates PowerPoint presentations
- Researches topics for reports and other projects
- Edits reports and writes award applications
- Prioritizes tasks effectively
- Assists with coordinating special projects and community events
- Promotes the library’s programs, services, spaces, philosophy and initiatives
- Communicates effectively verbally and in writing
- Writes grants and award nominations
- Ensures division work is cross‑supported through all Programming work units (youth, adult, outreach, public relations) and aligns with the Library strategic plan
- Supports the Public Relations and Marketing Coordinator with graphic design tasks and maintains social media pages
- Develops fliers, wrap‑up reports and other promotional materials
- Leads and works in a team setting while prioritizing tasks
- Participates in committees and attends job-related training
- Attends outreach events, representing NPL to the community and schools
- Supervises volunteers, interns and NELs
- Performs other duties requiring skills, knowledge and physical requirements as assigned by the supervisor
- Develops training modules on necessary topics and conducts training sessions across the system
- Monitors and tracks budgets
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent - Experience:
One year of experience in library or related services
- Experience with reports, program plans, curriculums and training modules
- Experience with administrative tasks in an office setting
- Graphic design experience
- Knowledge of supervision
- Technology forward thinker
- Valid driver’s license required
- Food Handlers Card and Notary License preferred
20 hours per week – Occasional evenings and weekends
