Position: Manheim Mobile Vehicle Condition Inspector, Bowie, MD ($1,500 sign on bonus

Job Description (Applies to All Levels)

Manheim Mobile Vehicle Condition Inspector positions are available at multiple experience levels. The role is conducted largely on site, inspecting active inventory for dealer clients within an assigned territory. Inspectors perform accurate, detailed documentation of vehicle condition in line with Manheim inspection standards, while building strong dealer relationships and contributing to efficient inventory flow.

Compensation
  • Mobile Inspector – Level 1 (100% Geo): $15.10 – $18.89 – $22.69 per hour
  • Mobile Inspector – Level 1 (110% Geo): $16.63 – $20.77 – $24.90 per hour
  • Mobile Inspector – Level 1 (120% Geo): $18.17 – $22.69 – $27.21 per hour
  • Mobile Inspector – Level 2 (100% Geo): $16.59 – $20.72 – $24.86 per hour
  • Mobile Inspector – Level 2 (110% Geo): $18.22 – $22.79 – $27.36 per hour
  • Mobile Inspector – Level 2 (120% Geo): $19.90 – $24.86 – $29.81 per hour
  • Mobile Inspector – Senior (100% Geo): $18.17 – $22.74 – $27.31 per hour
  • Mobile Inspector – Senior (110% Geo): $20.00 – $25.00 – $30.00 per hour
  • Mobile Inspector – Senior (120% Geo): $21.83 – $27.31 – $32.79 per hour
Primary Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough vehicle inspections, including exterior and interior condition, and perform basic mechanical checks.
  • Locate, start, move, inspect, and return vehicles safely on dealer client lots.
  • Verify vehicle identification, VINs, mileage, sub‑series, and options; enter accurate information into the system.
  • Document damage, missing components, or inoperable features.
  • Build and maintain dealer trust by delivering consistent, high‑quality inspections.
  • Promote Manheim Marketplace and mobile inspection services to dealers.
  • Engage dealers proactively to increase inspection volume and maintain participation.
  • Leverage data, insights, and partner input to optimize inspection efficiency and territory productivity.
  • Adapt to changing daily appointments and schedules to ensure effective dealer coverage.
  • Prepare and submit daily activity and production reports.
  • Utilize  for reporting, lead management, and performance tracking.
  • Collaborate with Wholesale Specialists, peers, and other Manheim teams to support client success.
  • Work within a continuous improvement, Lean environment, contributing to process enhancement.
  • Maintain safety and health procedures, participate in Safety Excellence initiatives, and comply with Manheim inspection standards.
Qualifications by Level Mobile Inspector – Level 1

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimal automotive knowledge preferred (body and mechanical).
  • 0–1 year of automotive‑related experience preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record required.
  • Ability to meet physical and mental demands within specified time frames.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct basic vehicle inspections with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Safely move and handle vehicles on dealer lots.
  • Accurately document vehicle condition and data in inspection systems.
  • Develop working knowledge of inspection standards and client expectations.
Mobile Inspector – Level 2

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED plus 3+ years of experience in a related field.
  • Alternative combinations include a higher degree or certification plus fewer years of experience.
  • 1–2 years of automotive‑related experience preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record required.
  • Ability to meet physical and mental demands within specified time frames.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently conduct detailed and complex vehicle inspections.
  • Manage daily inspection schedules efficiently across dealer locations.
  • Build strong working relationships with dealer clients.
  • Utilize data and insights to expand inspection volume and efficiency.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and team collaboration.
Mobile Inspector – Senior

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED plus 5 years of experience in a related field.
  • Alternative combinations include a higher degree or certification plus fewer years of experience.
  • Previous vehicle inspection experience required.
  • Strong automotive knowledge (body and mechanical) required.
