If you are someone who loves to seek complex challenges, F5 is hiring a manager for our Systems Engineers. This position is a leadership role, responsible for assisting F5 SEs with both technical and non-technical customer engagements.

This role requires a leader who can look beyond technology and features and consider the value F5 s technology can provide to our partners and customers. You will help team members ramp up on new F5 solutions and other relevant industry trends and technology, as well as develop excellent speaking, presentation and executive interaction skills. Regular one-on-one meetings with all team members are required, and you will be encouraged to provide both technical and soft skill mentoring to maintain a well-rounded, world-class organization.

Primary

Responsibilities
  • Uphold F5’s Business Code of Ethics and promptly report violations of the Code or other company policies.
  • Supervise exempt and/or nonexempt staff, including performance evaluations, PTO approvals, assigning or delegating work, on-the-job training, mentorship, performance improvement plans, disciplinary actions, and interviewing candidates.
  • Ensure effective communication between the Field System Engineers (FSE) and Sales teams, Product Management, Product Development, and Professional Services.
  • Identify market trends and communicate them to Product Management, Product Development, and Professional Services.
  • Develop and maintain an effective SE partner plan.
  • Assist with FSE skills assessment and job planning.
  • Drive Customer Support awareness through a transparent escalation plan.
  • Provide product feasibility analysis in support of sales efforts with sales representatives.
  • Guide and develop SEs within the given territory.
  • Assist FSEs with solving technical problems, positioning solutions with customers, and managing post-sales issues.
  • Ensure FSEs have proper tools and resources and are assigned appropriately to engagements within the region.
  • Provide or oversee pre-sale technical support in sales presentations and product demonstrations.
  • Assist FSE Director with FSE retention, recognition, compensation, and career planning.
  • Ensure FSEs actively collect opportunity data in
  • Delegate technical projects effectively to regional FSEs.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, skills and abilities
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong project management and negotiation skills
  • Strong knowledge of the F5 product line
  • Deep understanding of networking technologies and applications delivery
  • Ability to navigate and influence in a matrix organization
  • Ability to lead in a constantly evolving environment, manage multiple priorities and ambiguity
  • Ability to converse with technical and business personnel fluently at all levels of the organization
  • Outstanding presentation skills with the ability to articulate complex technologies
  • Ability to partner effectively with Sales Executives to identify new sales strategies and market opportunities
Qualifications
  • BS or BA degree required
  • 5+ years’ experience managing engineers
