A global medical device company is establishing a new Commercial Business Manager role to strengthen its commercial governance and business performance in China under an increasingly complex VBP and tender-driven environment
.
This position is a senior individual contributor role (no direct people management) and will work in close partnership with Sales, Clinical, and Regional Commercial teams, while acting as a key commercial interface between China and global leadership
.
Key responsibilities include:
- Manage and enhance distributor performance
, ensuring alignment with commercial strategy, contractual commitments, and pricing principles - Develop, monitor, and implement pricing strategies
, including support for VBP, tendering, and contract-based business models - Lead commercial discussions with distributors, including business reviews, performance assessments, and opportunity identification
- Support sales processes through sound commercial judgement
, data analysis, and disciplined decision-making - Analyze lost business and pricing challenges, working cross-functionally to develop recovery and protection plans
- Collaborate with regional and global stakeholders to ensure China business execution aligns with broader commercial objectives
- Ensure all commercial activities comply with company policies, governance standards, and regulatory requirements
This role requires strong commercial acumen, the ability to influence without authority, and confidence operating in a matrix, cross-functional environment

- Medical device industry experience is mandatory
, preferably within Class II / Class III products - Background in interventional, vascular or surgical devices is strongly preferred
- Proven experience in distributor or channel management
, including performance review and contract-based business - Hands‑on exposure to pricing management, tendering, VBP, or centralized procurement environments
- Strong commercial mindset with the ability to balance growth, profitability, and compliance
- Comfortable working closely with Sales and Clinical teams while maintaining independent commercial judgement
- Ability to communicate effectively with regional or global stakeholders in English (written and verbal)
- Bachelor’s degree or above; business, life sciences, or related disciplines preferred
This role is not suitable for candidates with purely Sales Operations, SFE, Marketing, or Clinical Support backgrounds without commercial ownership experience.
