The Mobile Meals Coordinator administers mobile After school & Summer Meals through the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) at multiple stops in Fairfax County, VA. The role involves operating a school bus converted to a mobile kitchen, loading and unloading meals, preparing and supervising meal service, entering meal reports via our digital point‑of‑service system, and leading recreational and educational activities for children ages 5‑18.
The coordinator also provides strategic insight into outreach and logistics to maximize community impact. This position requires approximately 8 hours per day, Monday‑Friday, from 12:00 to 8:00 PM, with hours and days subject to change based on community participation and school closures or holidays.
- Provide strategic insight into outreach and integration of the mobile bus into the community.
- Receive meals onsite from vendor and transfer them onto the bus.
- Train and supervise volunteers daily.
- Plate and serve meals in accordance with CACFP & SFSP guidelines, including set‑up and break‑down.
- Complete and enter daily reports into Link2
Feed, our digital point‑of‑service system. - Plan and lead recreational activities for children ages 5‑18, primarily elementary‑aged.
- Maintain the condition of the bus, conduct daily cleaning, and report any maintenance concerns to the Director of Family Government Nutrition Programs.
- Build relationships with community members.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Must be enrolled in a college degree program, have completed a college degree program, or possess equivalent work experience.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Conversationally fluent in Spanish (required).
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, database systems, and attention to detail.
- Experience with youth development programs preferred.
