The RoleThis director‑level position is responsible for leading ambulatory access operations across multiple specialties, ensuring patients can efficiently enter and navigate the UVA Health system. You will work in a fast‑paced, highly matrixed environment, partnering closely with physicians, administrators, and operational leaders to drive measurable improvements.
On a Day‑to‑Day Basis, You Will- Lead and develop layered teams, including managers, supervisors, and frontline leaders, fostering accountability and performance consistency.
- Oversee enterprise access functions such as scheduling operations and template optimization; referral management; contact center performance; and capacity management and patient throughput.
- Use data, analytics, and performance metrics to identify gaps and implement scalable solutions that improve patient access and operational outcomes.
- Drive change‑management initiatives tied to new technologies, workflows, and access strategies across multiple service lines.
- Collaborate with physicians and senior leadership to align operational priorities with clinical needs and system goals.
- Balance competing priorities across a complex, multi‑specialty portfolio, ensuring both local service line success and adherence to enterprise standards.
- Master’s degree required; a combination of relevant experience and education may be considered in lieu of the degree requirement.
- 7+ years of relevant experience, including 4+ years of formal management experience.
- No licensure requirement.
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers, with occasional travel to attend meetings and programs.

The starting base rate for this role is $91,329.00 annually. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate’s qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
