Communications Internship

About Us

Nova Scotia is rich in natural resources – including biodiversity, forests, provincial parks and the land we manage. The Department of Natural Resources is responsible for the development, management, conservation and protection of forest, parks and wildlife resources and the administration of the province’s Crown land. As a communications intern, you will work with other communications professionals to provide communications support services including content development for various platforms, such as news releases, social media, fact sheets, backgrounders, messages, and speeches. You will also provide support for social media account planning and management, event planning, project management, government procurement, and public opinion research related to marketing and communications.

This may include analyzing research results, developing reports, and responding to internal inquiries.

• Completion of a post‑secondary degree, diploma or graduate certificate in public relations, communications or marketing within the last three years.
• Strong writing and editing skills.
• Experience with social media strategies and communications plans.
• Experience creating content for digital and social channels.
• Experience proactively working with diverse stakeholders and understanding Nova Scotia’s unique social, historical and demographic context.

Previous government experience and French language skills would be considered assets.

This internship employment opportunity has an anticipated end date of June 30, 2028. The appointment status (term, temporary or casual) is dependent on the start date of the successful candidate.

Pay Grade: PR 06

Salary Range: $2,200.68 – $2,288.52 Bi‑Weekly
