Position: Senior Superintendent (Water/Wastewater)

The Senior Superintendent in the Clark Water Group oversees all field operations on a project to ensure that self‑performed and subcontracted trade work is in compliance with contract documents and the project schedule.

  • Supervise timely and cost‑effective installation of contracted work on the overall project or specific scopes and subcontractors.
  • Provide on‑the‑job training opportunities for Assistant Superintendents and Project/Office Engineers.
  • Encourage and participate in staff training and development.
  • Develop a plan for the sequence of work and the project schedule.
  • Plan and organize project work to assure all work is in accordance with contract documents.
  • Maintain knowledge of owner contract, subcontracts, purchase orders, and scheduled delivery dates for critical path material and equipment.
  • Update the project schedule monthly and in accordance with contract documents.
  • Control field costs for Clark and subcontract work.
  • Supervise field workforce to ensure cost‑efficient execution.
  • Schedule and monitor field productivity.
  • Understand equipment requirements.
  • Implement and enforce safety program; conduct safety inspections; ensure compliance with company, contract, and government standards; take remedial action as needed.
  • Assist in resolution of scope conflicts and participate in project management functions.
  • Ensure punch list is completed in a timely manner.
  • Assist in marketing proposals and presentations.
  • Undergraduate degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, or a related discipline, or relevant experience.
  • 8–10+ years of water/wastewater construction experience with a large‑scale commercial contractor or equivalent industry experience.
  • Experience building federal or government projects successfully from start to finish.
  • In‑depth knowledge of the construction process including scheduling, contract administration, equipment, manpower, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead field operations.
  • Working knowledge of applicable regulations (e.g., OSHA).

This is an active, hands‑on role. The position requires frequent standing, navigating uneven terrain, stairs, ladders, and hoists; bending, kneeling, and reaching; lifting and carrying materials up to 25pounds routinely and up to 50pounds occasionally; and clear visual acuity for reading plans and inspecting work. Desk time will involve prolonged sitting for computer work, document review, and meetings.

You will spend most of your time on active construction sites, adapting to varying weather conditions, moderate to loud noise levels, and confined or elevated work areas with moving mechanical equipment. Brief periods will be spent in an office setting with moderate noise.

This is a high‑performance, demanding environment. You must be energized by challenge, thrive under pressure, and be prepared to work extended hours during critical project phases or client deadlines. Availability to respond to communications (phone, email, text) outside regular hours may be required for time‑sensitive matters or emergencies.

Implement safety policies and procedures and corporate QC policies and programs. Conduct regular safety inspections and take remedial action when required.
