Construction Manager

We are seeking a Preconstruction Manager to join a leading construction organization in Arlington, VA. This is a high-impact leadership role for a preconstruction professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about driving successful project outcomes from concept through execution.

This role is ideal for someone who brings strong estimating expertise, client-facing experience, and the ability to lead preconstruction efforts while collaborating closely with operations, clients, and subcontractors.

As a Preconstruction Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring project success from the earliest stages. You will represent the company in client engagements and lead all preconstruction activities, including budgeting, estimating, and value analysis.

• Lead preconstruction efforts and serve as a primary point of contact for clients
• Develop conceptual budgets and perform detailed cost analysis
• Conduct value engineering and recommend cost-effective solutions
• Collaborate with operations to ensure accurate cost budgets and seamless handoff to construction teams
• Participate in OAC and design meetings with clients and project stakeholders
• Manage subcontractor relationships, including bid-day coordination and procurement strategies
• Review project cost reports and ensure alignment with budget expectations
• Oversee preconstruction schedules, deliverables, and status reporting
• Support business development efforts and maintain strong industry relationships
• Ensure compliance with risk management policies and company standards
• Mentor and guide team members while promoting best practices in preconstruction

• Strong background in preconstruction, estimating, or construction management
• Experience with conceptual estimating, budgeting, and value engineering
• Proven ability to manage subcontractor relationships and bid processes
• Strong understanding of general conditions, logistics, and cost reporting
• Experience working with clients in a collaborative, service-oriented environment
• Proficiency with estimating tools such as Autodesk, Bluebeam, Procore, or similar platforms
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet critical deadlines
