Job Description Vertiv seeks an experienced Engineering Construction Manager to oversee medium‑scale data center infrastructure projects across the U.S. The role involves managing on‑site construction, ensuring adherence to specifications, safety standards, and timelines, and requires strong leadership and communication.
Key Responsibilities- Project Oversight:
Manage all phases from site preparation through commissioning, focusing on high density liquid cooling equipment and associated infrastructure. - Vendor Management:
Coordinate with general contractors, subcontractors, and third‑party vendors to ensure compliance with scope, schedule, and quality standards. - Schedule Management:
Monitor construction schedules, provide regular updates, and implement corrective actions. - Quality Assurance:
Ensure all work meets company standards, client requirements, and applicable codes and regulations. - Risk Mitigation:
Proactively identify and address potential risks, safety issues, and design conflicts. - Client Interaction:
Serve as the point of contact for clients on construction matters, fostering professional relationships. - Documentation:
Maintain comprehensive project documentation (RFIs, change orders, punch lists, daily reports, closeout materials). - Commissioning Support:
Collaborate with commissioning agents and Vertiv engineering teams to verify systems before handover.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 7+ years of construction management experience, with at least 3 years in mission‑critical or data‑center projects.
- Strong knowledge of MEP systems and civil/structural construction.
- Proven ability to manage medium‑scale projects valued over $5 M.
- Excellent knowledge of construction safety practices and OSHA regulations.
- Familiarity with project‑management software (Procore, CX Alloy, Primavera, MS Project).
- Willingness to travel extensively within the U.S. and remain on‑site for extended periods.
- PMP, CCM, or equivalent construction/project‑management certifications.
- Experience with high‑density liquid cooling in data‑center environments.
- Experience with prefabrication, modular builds, or fast‑track construction methodologies.
- Previous experience with or for Vertiv or similar data‑center infrastructure providers.
