Description
Team Fishel, a leader in utility construction since 1936, is hiring a Safety Coordinator for its Henrico, VA office to support operations across the state of Virginia. The role promotes an Accident‑Free culture, assists teammates with company safety policies, coaches crews on safe work habits, conducts Safety Assessments on project sites, and participates in accident investigation and root cause analysis when necessary.
Responsibilities- Oversees training and implementation of company policies and programs designed to mitigate risk and protect teammates from health and safety risks.
- Creates and delivers safety training programs that educate teammates on safe working practices.
- Provides field leadership with weekly safety and training reports.
- Completes safety assessments on project sites, debriefs findings, and provides coaching to crews.
- Ensures appropriate investigation of and response to accidents or injuries.
- Contributes to safety planning, direction, and goal‑setting for safety programs.
- Tracks and reports on safety metrics to identify trends, strengths, and areas for improvement.
- Promotes our safety culture and the value of being Accident Free; develops partnerships with field crews.
- 3+ years of experience in the construction safety industry with knowledge of utility construction (electric, natural gas, and telecommunications) required.
- Extensive experience with electric linework and power distribution highly desirable.
- Advanced safety accreditation, including OSHA 30‑hour, First Aid/CPR; certification as a Smith System Driving Trainer is a plus.
- Ability to perform on‑site safety audits and document findings.
- Effective communicator and coach; familiar with MS Office and Google Workspace.
- Bilingual in Spanish highly preferred.
- Ability to travel within the state of Virginia to support crews and area offices.
