Overview
The Universal Branch Representative performs the duties of both a Teller and Member Service Representative (platform). This role supports branch sales and service strategies and delivers an exceptional member experience.
Responsibilities- Teller Responsibilities: Establish member relationships through quality service and cross-sell VACU products/services; handle transactions accurately and proficiently; exercise good judgment and seek approval for transactions exceeding authorized levels; balance cash drawer daily and report balances; assist in reconciling errors or discrepancies; maintain adequate cash and/or cash limits as required by VACU policy; evaluate member needs and make daily referrals to Member Service Representatives.
- Member Service Responsibilities: Open memberships and all types of deposit accounts; provide assistance and maintenance on deposit and loan accounts; apply referral-based lending knowledge; assess each member’s financial needs to identify cross-sell opportunities and expand relationships; make appropriate referrals to deepen member relationships; engage members and prospective members professionally in person and over the phone; demonstrate flexibility around daily member needs and exhibit lobby leadership skills to maximize member experience;
follow VACU policies and procedures related to the platform and teller line, including Security and Information Security; answer member inquiries and cross-sell products and services; handle member transactions quickly and efficiently within established policies and procedures; maintain knowledge of VACU products and services; respond to phone inquiries professionally and accurately; build and retain member relationships through follow-up and courtesy calls;
meet performance expectations in service quality, operations, and sales; support supervisor with troubleshooting and special assignments; contribute to achieving business, member service, and sales goals; perform notary duties in compliance with rules and regulations.
- Knowledge: Thorough understanding of products and services offered by financial institutions (preferred).
- Skills: Computer skills; effective communication and public relations; cross-selling; problem solving and interpersonal skills; sound judgment; ability to handle difficult tasks and multiple tasks; professional appearance and manner.
- Education & Experience: Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent; some college education or business courses preferred; customer/member service experience (preferably at a financial institution); cash handling/business experience at a financial institution; knowledge of transaction and settlement procedures.
This job requires the ability to sit and stand for long periods. Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds and frequent lifting up to 30 pounds may be required.
