Description

The University of Virginia Department of Pediatrics and Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition invites applications for a non‑tenure eligible clinical faculty position at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level. The position is ideal for a highly motivated candidate with a strong interest in advancing their career through excellence in clinical practice, education, quality improvement, and advocacy. Rank and compensation are dependent upon qualifications.

About

the Division

Together with outstanding colleagues in Pediatric Surgery, the Division serves as the top‑ranked Gastroenterology and Gastrointestinal Surgery program in Virginia. The Division provides a full array of pediatric gastroenterology subspecialty care to the Commonwealth and beyond, with 7,000 outpatient visits and 1,800 procedures annually, including capsule endoscopy, pH/MII, esophageal dilation, and transnasal endoscopy. The Division’s staff includes 3 nurse practitioners, 2 psychologists, 3 dietitians, 5 nurse care coordinators, physical and occupational therapy, and 2 social workers.

It maintains a vibrant ACGME‑accredited fellowship program, with three fellows in training (one per year).

Clinical Mission and Services

Clinical services focus on inflammatory bowel disease, pediatric liver transplantation, eosinophilic GI disorders, disorders of gut‑brain interaction, aerodigestive disorders, intestinal rehabilitation, nutrition, and global health. The Division collaborates with Pediatric Surgery, Pediatric Radiology, Transplant Surgery (both at UVA and the University of Pittsburgh), and adult Gastroenterology for interventional gastrointestinal procedures. Quality improvement efforts span inflammatory bowel disease, pediatric liver transplant, and mental health in children with chronic illnesses.

Research

and Education

The Division’s research portfolio is focused on global health and includes NIH funding. It offers a vibrant ACGME‑accredited fellowship program with three fellows in training and collaborates closely with cross‑disciplinary partners.

Qualifiations The position is open to individuals with M.D. or D.O. degrees. Candidates must be eligible for appointment to the University of Virginia faculty and board certified or board eligible.
