Dentist - Oral Surgeon

Summary

Position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) - a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval - award amount (up to $200
-000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.

• The Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon shall be proficient in all aspects of oral maxillofacial surgery and limited general dentistry procedures
• Specifically - the provider should possess the expertise and competency to perform the following 1
• Make oral and radiographic examinations of the oral cavity and its adjacent tissues and structures
• 2
• Diagnose pathological or irregular oral conditions
• 3
• Accomplish admissions - work-up and performance of surgical procedures of patients presenting with illnesses - injuries - and disorders of both the functional and aesthetic aspects of the hard and soft tissues of the oral and maxillofacial regions

• Accomplishes dental-alveolar surgical procedures - reduction of facial fractures - placement of dental implants and biopsy procedures
• 5
• Provide safe and effective anesthesia services in the outpatient setting including intravenous sedation/general anesthesia
• 6
• Active participant in the General Practice Residency and Maxillofacial Implant programs
• The scope of practice that a specific provider may perform is defined through the medical center credentialing and privileging process
