Job SummaryThe Curriculum Developer supports the Marine Corps Information Systems Training Center (MISTC) by designing, developing, and maintaining high quality Command and Control (C2) training curriculum. This role ensures all courseware is aligned with Marine Corps Instructional Systems Development (MCISD) and System Approach to Training and Education (SATE) standards and supports the training mission across resident and distributed learning environments.
The Curriculum Developer works closely with subject matter experts, instructors, and government stakeholders to analyze training requirements and produce effective instructional products that support MISTC courses and related training programs.
Due to the nature of our work as a federal consulting organization, employees may be expected to handle Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and must adhere to applicable safeguarding and compliance requirements.
Responsibilities- Design, develop, and maintain MISTC curriculum, including lesson plans, instructor guides, student handouts, presentations, and supporting materials.
- Apply MCISD and SATE processes throughout the curriculum development life cycle, from analysis through evaluation.
- Conduct training needs analysis and front-end analysis to identify performance gaps and learning objectives for MISTC courses.
- Develop measurable terminals and enabling learning objectives and ensure alignment with Marine Corps doctrine, policy, and operational requirements.
- Create and refine scenario based, practical, and exercise-driven training materials that support C2 and related mission areas.
- Collaborate with MISTC instructors and subject matter experts to validate content accuracy, relevance, and instructional effectiveness.
- Integrate feedback from After Instruction Reports, student critiques, instructor input, and evaluation data to update and improve courseware.
- Ensure all curriculum products are instructionally sound, logically structured, and appropriate for the target audience and delivery mode.
- Develop and adapt materials for multiple delivery methods, including classroom instruction, blended learning, and distributed learning.
- Maintain configuration control of courseware, including version management, documentation of changes, and proper file management.
- Ensure all materials comply with applicable security, classification, and information handling requirements.
- Support instructor preparation by providing clear lesson plans, timing, media requirements, and guidance on instructional strategies.
- Active DoD Secret clearance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Training and Development, or a closely related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 8 or more years of experience in curriculum development, instructional design, or training development, preferably supporting DoD or Marine Corps programs.
- Completion of a formal military curriculum development course or a commercial equivalent in instructional systems design.
- Demonstrated expertise with MCISD and SATE methodologies and their application to course and curriculum development.
- Proven experience developing courseware that includes lesson plans, instructor guides, student materials, and presentation media.
- Strong understanding of adult learning principles and instructional best practices, including scenario based and performance focused design.
- Ability to analyze complex technical or operational content and translate it into clear, effective instructional materials.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 applications, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and documentation skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with instructors, subject matter experts, and government customers.
- Prior experience developing curriculum for MISTC, MSTP, or other Marine Corps training and education organizations.
- Experience developing blended or distributed learning products, including asynchronous and self-paced materials.
- Familiarity with learning management systems and e-learning tools used to deliver and track training.
