Overview
SUMMARY: This position helps students learn a foreign language by providing a comprehensive program for students in grades 9-12 to practice skills that contribute to their ability to speak, read, and write Spanish.
Responsibilities- Demonstrates a high proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the language they are teaching.
- Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and times designated.
- Develops instructional plans and organizes class time to provide a balanced program of instruction, work time, and assessment.
- Recognizes learning problems and makes accommodations.
- Evaluates pupils' academic and social growth, keeping appropriate records, and preparing progress reports.
- Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate for the maturity and interest of the students.
- Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
- Guides the learning process towards the achievement of curriculum goals and establishes/communicates clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects.
- Is available to students and parents for educational-related purposes outside of the instructional day.
- Maintains confidentiality of student information.
A single, district-paid health insurance premium is included. Other benefits such as dental and vision insurance as well as cafeteria plans/tax sheltered annuities are available at the employee’s expense.
Salary InformationStarting salary $49,000 with a bachelor’s degree based upon the salary schedule, higher depending upon experience, graduate hours, and FTE. New teachers will be paid $100 per day to attend up to four (4) new teacher orientation days.
