General Description
This is a field position. The incumbent performs routine tasks and fieldwork to assist with the planning and implementation of recreation programs, community events and facilities operations for individuals with varying degrees of cognitive, behavioral, or physical disabilities in an inclusion setting.
OrganizationThe position reports to either a Recreation Supervisor or a Recreation Coordinator and supervises no staff.
Essential Functions- Assists with the planning and implementation of recreation programs
- Leads programs and activities. Program areas might include sports, games, arts & crafts, nature, music, and/or cultural arts.
- Works and communicates with program staff to gain a comprehensive understanding of the abilities and disabilities of the individuals served.
- Assists individuals with disabilities, as needed.
- Assists with the inventory control, management, set up, breakdown and care of recreation supplies, equipment and program area.
- Performs related work as assigned.

Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of community youth recreation programming preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Ability to follow workplace policies, procedures, and work plans
- Ability to work with the general public and provide satisfactory customer service
- Ability to work with a diverse group of participants while enforcing behavioral standards and program policies
One (1) year college and experience working with individuals with disabilities, required.
Special Conditions- Criminal Records Check, including fingerprinting
- CPR/First Aid Certification
- Mandatory Participation in staff trainings

Selected candidates will complete mandatory online training during the month of May.
Mandatory in-person training for summer camp will take place June 1-5, 2026.
Camps will be offered June 8 through July 24, 2026, Monday-Friday. Selected candidates will be expected to work between 8:00 AM and 5:30 PM, in accordance with their assigned schedule. Campers will range in age from 6 to 12.
Additional work shifts will be made available to support department programs and events; all staff will be required to work Friday, July 10 and Saturday, July 11, 2026.
