Job detailsBasic Purpose of Position:
To oversee and support the Pilot Training Coordinator(s), Training Pilot Schedule Planner and the Crew License & Records Coordinator. Liaise with Flight Training Administration Manager for training forecasting and allocation of training resources. Reports to the Director, Training & Standards.
- Management of Pilot Training
- Develop procedures and work instructions within the department
- Ensure all company and Transport Canada rules/regulations are followed consistently by the Pilot Training Coordinator(s), Training Pilot Schedule Planner and Crew License and Records Coordinator(s)
- After hours support for training issues related to Crew Training Group, TPs, training events, and crew qualifications
- Review and action any Pilot and/or Flight Attendant disqualifications at the end of the month in accordance with collective agreements
- Track Line Pilot, Training Pilot, ACP, and Flight Attendant qualifications
- Participate in bi-annual Pilot Position Bids; coordinate required pilot training based on bid results
- Liaise with Chief Pilot Training and the Director, Training & Standards regarding changes to the training syllabus and communicate to Crew Training as necessary
- Apply FTDT rules to training plans
- Balance training requirements to meet operation flying hours as required and specified by executive
- Simulator and Classroom Planning – oversee all Pilot training events monthly, coordinate vacancies and reductions per collective agreement, ensure adequate participant availability, oversee Transport Canada training and PPC, manage changes
- Daily support for Crew Training Group including duty assignment and distribution, coaching and decision making
- Manage Crew Training Group work hours, vacation and sick time
- Sustain Crew Training Group own training to maintain excellence using internal software (ARDWEB, Crew Trac, Sked Flex)
- Key user for Sked Flex: identify new codes and qualifications, coordinate syllabus changes, build/design qualifications and scheduling, standardize codes and communication
- Ensure Crew Training Group up to date with regulatory requirements mandated by Transport Canada and Collective Agreements
- Maintain the OLA for training ensuring pilots have required French instruction
- Oversee schedules for Training Pilots (all aircraft types) and Human Factors Instructors
- Department Expenses & Budgeting – approve employee expenses in E-trip, approve invoices in Ariba, prepare annual flight operations budget for hotels and travel, submit budget annually, review monthly targets to keep costs on track
- Technical – provide guidance on training syllabus and scripting, ensure technical requirements met, liaise with CAE, Sked Flex and external vendors, ensure compliance with collective agreements for pilots & flight attendants
- Ensure Crew Training Group follows TPM, FIM, LTM, TCM, CASS 725.124, ACPM, FAM and Flight Attendant Training Standard
- Represent Flight Operations Training & Records on the Corporate Quality Council and collaborate to establish shared quality solutions
