Job Description
Certified Nurse Aide Instructor – NOVA Workforce Division, Northern Virginia Community College.
Location:
Must reside in the DC, VA, or MD DMV area. Instructor will teach at all three Nurse Aide locations (Reston, Woodbridge, and Alexandria) in both Lab and Clinical settings (this is not an online teaching position).
- Use the State of Virginia Board of Nursing curriculum to prepare nurse aide students to successfully complete the nurse aide certification exam.
- Provide quality instruction, meet assigned classes regularly, submit required records and reports, teach the prescribed courses of study with the established texts, and adhere to professional ethics in accordance with college policies, procedures, and regulations.
May be required to perform other duties as assigned and, if necessary, assist the agency or state government in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
Required Qualifications- Holds a current, unrestricted Virginia license as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and has multistate licensure privilege.
- Must have at least one year of direct client care or supervisory experience in geriatric long‑term care services within the last five years.
- At least one year of experience as a nurse within the past five years and at least one year of experience in long‑term care services (including nursing aide program work, supervision of nursing students, or other long‑term care settings).
- Must hold a current Nurse Aide Instructor training certification (can be provided upon successful hire).
- Experience teaching adult learners from a diverse population.
- BSN or higher preferred.
